Uganda’s Security Minister, who’s also the Rujumbura County Member of Parliament Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi has told residents of Bwambara Sub County and Rukungiri district at large to avoid politics of identity and instead promote politics of development based on community needs.

Hon. Jim Muhwezi made the revelation on Sunday while handing over 68 iron sheets to members of Kyabahanga Ishebataka Association in Kyabahanga Parish, Bwambara Sub County in Rukungiri district.

Minister Jim Muhwezi donated the iron sheets following a request from the Association members, whose commercial building had stalled on roofing stage. Muhwezi was represented by his political Assistant Isaac Kaharuza and coordinators from the Sub County.

While handing over the iron sheets, Kaharuza said that the first essential component is to change the mindset that emphasizes the politics of identity in favor of the politics of interests. He called on the people of Bwambara Sub County and Rujumbura as a whole to back Jim Muhwezi in the upcoming elections so that progress can continue.

According to Byakatonda Ben, the chairperson of Kyabahanga Ishebataka Association, which is made up of 19 groups, they have been constructing their commercial building slowly because of a lack of funding. Byakatonda praised Jim Muhwezi for contributing 5 million shillings during the purchase of the plot, 2 million shillings when construction started, and 68 iron sheets that were required for the roofing.

Bataringaya Vicent and Atuheire Sadress some of the association members praised Hon. Jim Muhwezi for always keeping them in mind as Bwambara Sub County residents, pledging their support in the upcoming elections.

Kaharuza and his team including Chris Kagayano, the chairperson LC3 Bwambara Sub County, Christopher Turyarugayo among other team Jim members also handed over 50 bags of cement to Rwesigiro Church of Uganda, and 20 bags to Nyakatembe Christ Witness Church all in Kikarara Parish, 50 bags of cement to Kanyabusambwe COU in Kyabahanga parish and 18 iron sheets to Kyabahanga Christian Nursery and Primary for the roofing of newly built toilet.

Muhereza Rafutari, Sabiti Sedu, and Mbabazi Jackson, among other leaders of these institutions, thanked Jim Muhwezi for the assistance, stating that it would help them carry out their organizations’ operations.
