RUKUNGIRI! Parish chief in hiding over corruption & extortion in PDM

NEWS- The Police in Rukungiri are hunting for Ninsiima Arthur, the Kikarara Parish Chief in Bwambara Sub County following allegations of extortion and corruption under the Parish Development Model (PDM).

During a community dialogue commonly known as Baraza organized by the Rujumbura County area Member of Parliament and the Minister for Security Hon Jim Muhwezi in Nyabugando, Kikarara Parish Bwambara Sub County, residents accused Ninsiima of demanding for bribes from individuals seeking to benefit from Parish Development Model program.

According to Natukunda Isaac and Kyarikunda Evas, some of the affected residents narrated to the Minister that Ninsiima would squeeze them to pay between UGX 50,000 to 200,000 to the parish chief currently in hiding. 

They claimed that despite paying the requested amount, some people never received 1M shillings from the government, forcing them to voice their concerns to the minister who was in their area.

After receiving these reports, Minister Jim Muhwezi ordered police to hunt and arrest Ninsiima who was in the same meeting but disappeared after residents started accusing him to answer the case.

At the same function, the Rukungiri District Police Commander (DPC) SSP. Apollo Kyangungu confirmed that he is going to follow up the case for the victims to get justice.

Efforts to reach Ninsiima Arthur, the Kikarara Parish Chief for a comment on allegations levied against him were unsuccessful.

In order to update the public on their accomplishments during their five-year tenure in office as well as their future plans, Minister Jim Muhwezi is in his constituency for a community dialogue known as Baraza.

Visiting Parishes of Rwenshama and Kikarara all in Bwambara Sub County Rukungiri district yesterday, Jim Muhwezi assured people that the Cabinet has already sidelined USD 50M to startup water project which will help residents of Bwambara and Bugangari to access clean and safe water.

At the same event, Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata, the woman Member of Parliament for Rukungiri district, informed the public that the current leaders are collaborating to ensure that people receive better services, urging them to avoid those who use false propaganda to seek political positions as the nation prepares for elections.
