US donates 1,674,270 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to Uganda

NEWS- The Government of Uganda has received a batch of 1,674,270 doses of Pfizer Covid19 vaccine.

These vaccines which were donated by the United States Government were on Monday 20th September 2021 received at Entebbe International Airport by health officials led by Margaret Muhanga, the State minister in charge of primary health care and Moses Kamabare, the general manager National Medical Stores.


In attendance at Entebbe also was Yonas Tegegn Woldemariam, the World Health Organisation (WHO) representative in Uganda.

The consignment was donated by the US government through the dose-sharing arrangement COVAX and was arrived on an Emirates flight. 

This is not the first time the US has donated Covid19 vaccine doses to Uganda as it had earlier this month  also donated over 600,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine.

While handing over vaccines to Ugandan authorities, Brown Natalie the US ambassador to Uganda revealed that the package is part of the 500 million Pfizer doses the US provided this summer to 92 countries worldwide.
