NEWS-The management of Kawempe Women’s referral hospital has said is stuck with two babies who were abandoned by two teenage mothers who delivered them prematurely and took them to the nurseries for further management.
Speaking with our reporter, the executive director Kawempe Women’s hospital Dr Nekemiah Katusiime revealed that every week, they get a baby abandoned at the hospital.
Dr Nekemiah added that they are yet to conduct the study to establish if the trend is related to the reported increasing number of teenage pregnancies attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Last week on Wednesday, a Tororo Woman Member of Parliament, lifted the veil in Parliament of male legislators who allegedly sire children outside wedlock and abandon them, causing heated debate in the house, prompting the deputy speaker to call for a name and shame campaign.
