KAMPALA- The territorial police at Nagalama have rescued 51 people from human trafficking. On 02/04/2025, at around 1000 hours, the police received information of people who were being conned in the form of recruiting them for jobs by AIM GLOBAL ALLIANCE, a networking company in the Naggalama division.

It’s alleged that the victims are always conned in prejudice of giving them jobs, and each victim is told to come with 150,000 (one hundred and fifty thousand) on reporting on the job, which it’s alleged is for training.

After they pick the victim ‘s phone, they start recruiting their friends and also call the relatives to pay 1500000 (one million five hundred thousand) to buy their products, which they will sell and get more money.

They always promise victims that in the future they will reach a time when they will be earning at least 1,000,000 (one million), depending on the people you have recruited and the sales made.

The operation was done in different areas of Kalagi as follows: Kakola village, Kyabakadde parish, Kyampisi sub-county, Mukono district: Males and 11 females, totaling 14 victims, were found sleeping in one room. In a related development, the Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, has launched the construction of 1,200 police housing apartments at Naguru barracks in Kampala.

The project, expected to be completed within 12 months, aims to provide decent accommodation to police officers and their families. IGP Byakagaba emphasized the importance of timely delivery, urging the construction team to work efficiently.

The project is being handled by the Police Construction Unit under the Directorate of Logistics and Engineering.

“This initiative is a significant step towards improving the welfare of police officers and their families. Together with the police’s top leadership, we are focused on enhancing the overall well-being of the police force, and this project is one of those testaments to that commitment,” said IGP Abas Byakagaba.

AIGP Dr. Namutebi Hadijjah, the Director of Welfare Production and Sports, noted that the journey to this day has been shaped by collective effort, vision, and unrelenting dedication to improving the lives of those who serve our country with honor and sacrifice.

Adequate housing is not a privilege—it is a right and a cornerstone of effective service delivery. When an officer lives in secure, decent accommodation, their morale is strengthened, their productivity enhanced, and their loyalty reinforced.

AIGP James Apora has assured the success and timely completion of the police housing project. He has assigned a team of dedicated engineers to oversee the construction, ensuring that the project meets its deadline and is completed to the desired standards.
