Rukungiri District Muslim Kadhi returns from Mecca

Rukungiri main mosque in Rwenkuba cell, Rukungiri Municipality, was on Sunday June 22nd 2025 filled with joy as the community gathered to welcome Sheikh Kayole Abdul Malik Byaruhanga now HAJJI following his pilgrimage to Mecca.

The event drew a diverse crowd, including local political leaders, head teachers, religious figures, and esteemed guests, all eager to celebrate the Sheikh’s return.

In his heartfelt speech, Sheikh Kayole expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support he received from friends across various mosques in Rukungiri district. He emphasized the importance of trust within the community, urging everyone to believe in the process and await the positive outcomes of his journey.

Hajji Kayole recalled reaching out for financial assistance before his pilgrimage, thanking those who contributed to making his journey possible.

Highlighting the significance of his pilgrimage, Sheikh Kayole noted that he was one of only two individuals selected from the Kigezi Sub Region for the Hajj. He expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, acknowledging his support as instrumental in facilitating his journey.

Assistant Mufti Sheikh Abdul Karim Katamba addressed the gathering, praising Allah for Sheikh Kayole’s safe return. He thanked the people of Rukungiri for their warm welcome and highlighted the critical role of women in nurturing future generations. He encouraged attendees to look up to the exemplary mother of Hajji Abdul Malik, who raised her children well despite challenges.

Betty Muzanira, an aspiring Woman Member of Parliament for Rukungiri district representing the PFF party, called for prayers for Dr. Kiiza Besigye, currently imprisoned, and urged support for art teachers on strike, emphasizing the need to protect students’ education.

Muzanira congratulated Sheikh Kayole on his achievement and announced a donation of 1 million shillings from the PFF party.
