NEWS- The Police in Kabale District have registered a case of suicide of a 21 year old S.6 student of Solberg College identified as Kiconco Nikita and resident of Rutoma cell Nyabikoni Ward in Central Division of Kabale Municipality who was found hanging in the Dormitory.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that the case was reported on Easter Sunday morning by the Head Teacher Solberg College Tusiime Denis at Rutoma cell in Nyabikoni Ward in Central Division if Kabale Municipality in Kabale District.
Its reported that some students of Solberg College left for the Easter holiday on Friday and around 60 others remained at school and among them included Kiconco Nikita and today the students left the school for prayers at Nyabikoni COU and only 2 students that’s Kiconco Nikita and Tusiime Alice remained at the school in different Domitries, where Kiconco claimed to have not been feeling well and was on medication.
Maate explained thay when the students came back from church, they found the body of Kiconco Nikita hanging with the rope tied around her neck and up on the timber at the roof. Students made an alarm which attracted the matron who immediately informed the school Headteacher Tusiime and upon him seeing the body he immediately reported the matter to Kabale Central Police Station.
Maate said that a case file of suspected suicide was opened at Kabale Police Station and the homicide team under the command of the Acting CID Barijunaki Samuel visited the scene of crime and documented it and the body was retrieved from the scene, taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for examination as investigations continue.
