In the policy introduced by the Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital management, the patient’s caretakers is limited to just one.

This comes after the virus resurfaced in Kampala, resulting in one death.

Dr. Deus Twesigye, the acting director of the hospital, confirmed the new measure on Thursday 6th February 2024 and clarified that the facility had not admitted any suspected Ebola patients, contrary to media reports.

He noted that the move aims to reduce overcrowding and improve infection prevention protocols as the hospital works to contain the outbreak.
