RUKUNGIRI-The Police in Rukungiri district are mounting investigations to discover the cause of death of a 21 year old man.
Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the deceased as Criscent Ampumuza a resident of Rwabigangura cell, Kabingo parish, in Eastern Division, Kebisoni Town Council Rukungiri district.
It is said that the deceased left his parents’ home on the 06th December 2021 at around 4:30pm to Rwabigangura trading center where he had always fetched water for money to earn a living.
His mother Miriam Komugisha waited but the son could not return home.
Maate explained that on 7th December 2021 at around 8:30am as the Mother was still waiting for the deceased, a boda boda cyclist identified as James Nasasira brought to her the information that her son had been murdered at Kebisoni.
The mother reported the incident at Kebisoni police station and a case of murder was preferred vide SD reference 11/07/12/2021.
The police spokesperson stressed that the scene of crime was visited by a team of detectives and the deceased’s body was taken to Rwakabengo health center III pending postmortem.
According to Elly Maate, three suspects who include Nkwatsibwe Julius Elias Bibi, Ezra Tugume and Nabireba Juliet have arrested to assist the on going investigations.
The District Police Commander revealed that blood stained clothes were recovered on the bodies of Ezra and Julius.
Police notes that the deceased’s body was found in a sweet potato garden near a short cut from William street to Rwabigangura village with visible assault wounds at the back, rotating neck an indication that the deceased was strangled.
The police spokesperson said that the actual cause of the death would be drawn after a pending postmortem report.
A case of murder by strangulation has since been recorded at Rukungiri CPS vide CRB 16142021.
