KAMPALA-The parliament of Uganda has confirmed that over 39 legislators who traveled to Arusha Tanzania for the East African parliamentary games tested positive for omicron variant.

According to Chris Obore, the director of communication at Parliament, the affected MPs have been isolated to reduce the wide spread of the virus.

Obore added that they were expecting some omicron positive cases from MPs who travelled to Tanzania since the country has a relaxed policy when it comes to measures to combat Covid-19 but were well prepared for the situation.

He said there is no cause for alarm or panic as the situation is under control.
