KOLE-Police in Kole district have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly killing his father over sh5,000.The suspect identified as James Olugu, a resident of Bargri cell, Eastern ward in Aboke Town Council, allegedly hit his father Alex Ogwang with timber trying to save her sister.
According to an eyewitness George Ocwic, Ogwang 50 was disciplining his 14-year-old daughter Sandra Adero who he suspected had stolen his money (sh5000).
He said that Olugu rushed to rescue Adero, unfortunately, grabbed timber and hit the deceased on the forehead, killing him instantly.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying police have arrested the suspect and the body handed over to relatives for burial, as the investigation continues.
According to Okema, a case of murder by hitting is registered at Kole CPS on CRB 091/2021.
Records from North Kyoga Police Region show that 92 murder cases were reported between January and May 2021.
