RUKUNGIRI- The Joint Clinical Research Centre JCRC through it’s program of Local partner Health services activity Kigezi with support from USAID has donated health equipment to Rukungiri district.
The health equipment worth millions of money were on Tuesday 7th September 2021 at the district headquarters handed over to Rukungiri district Taskforce.
The donated equipment included sanitizers, face shields, gloves, soap, Jik, aprons, goggles, Personal protective equipment, facemasks, infra red thermometers among many others.
While handing over the equipment, Dr. Aine Byabashaija the Kigezi Region JCRC District best teams manager noted that reached such a decision following the gaps in the health sector in Kigezi region which he pledged to fill.
Dr. Byabashaija appealed to the district health officials and health workers to utilize the donated equipment positively to ensure smooth flow of health services in the district.
Dr. Byabashaija pledged to deliver tents, oxygen cylinders and their stabilizers not later than the end of this week not forgetting 26 human resource who include counselors, clerks and peers to supplement the existing health workers for better service delivery.
Steven Nsubuga Bewayo, the Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner who doubles as the head of the District Task force applauded Dr. Byabashaija, JCRC and USAID for the assortment which he said will help boost health services in the district.
Bewayo appealed to the general public to be vigilant and continue following SOPs stressing that Covid19 is still in existence and also called up on individuals and other partners to come on the rescue mission of the district.
Dr. Mucunguzi Akasiima, the Rukungiri District Health Officer DHO welcomed JCRC in the district and appreciated them them for their tireless efforts to improve health services.
