Rukungiri District boda boda cyclists tipped on discipline & trustworthiness

RUKUNGIRI- The Rubabo county legislator Hon Namanya Naboth has asked boda boda riders to ensure and observe discipline to disapprove the community saying that they’re bad community characters. Hon Namanya was addressing Nyakishenyi Boda boda cyclist association and Sacco members at Nyakishenyi sub county headquarters on Thursday.

Namanya consoled the cyclists who are currently facing fuel price hikes that have reduced their earnings stressing that the issue was being caused by striking drivers at the Malaba border point adding that the government has already sorted out the issue with expectations that prices will drop a few days from now.

The legislator promised to push for the boda boda cyclists agenda given their multiplier effect and the number of the population employed in the activity.

Hon Namanya asked the Nyakishenyi leadership to priotise roads maintenance to ease operations of boda boda cyclists in executing their duties. He asked for cooperation between the boda boda leadership and the sub county authorities to iron out bad characters from this activity.

Hon Namanya asked the association and sacco members to do away with politics in the operation of their sacco if they are to hit their targets urging them to elect transparent leaders with integrity of pushing from one development state to another.

Adams Bwisho the Rukungiri District Commercial officer applauded the Sacco fir their efforts in shaping the boda boda image not only in the sub county but the district as well. Asked members to remain cooperative and rally more fellows to join them if they are to benefit from what they have started.

Beinomigisha Mary Kicori the Katonya Parish Councilor and the Nyakishenyi Sub County Vice Chairperson praised the cyclists for a positive mind that will push them miles in development. She pledged the Sub County leadership’s support to all developmental agendas of the boda boda cyclists.

Charles Karoli the Nyakishenyi Boda boda Association Chairperson hailed the cyclists for being transformed class than the community thought of them in previous days. Karoli castigated some cyclists who are discouraging fellows from opening accounts in the Association and Sacco terming them perpetrators of development.

He hailed members for the massive attendance that will help them legislate on developmental issues that will see them take a step ahead in development.

The Nyakishenyi sub county community development officer Lawrence Mugabe called on the cyclists to ensure transparency, accountability and commitment as well as trustworthiness if they want their association remain strong.

Mugabe advised the Sacco and Association leaders to respect the members and vice versa in building a strong bond between them and their operations.

The Nyakishenyi sub county chief Robert Tumushabe hailed the commitment exhibited by the riders in all activities they do stressing that the future is bright with such a hardworking community of Ugandans.

He urged them to consider joining the government’s current Parish Development model program that is meant to boost the development of organised groups of which boda boda is one of kind.

The Nyakishenyi sub county Police post Officer in Charge Pascal Tumugabirwe asked the cyclists to work hand in hand with security operatives in curbing down theft in the area. This was after it came to light that some boda boda riders in the area are fond of transporting thieves in late hours of the night.
