RUKUNGIRI- Over 1000Victims of disastrous hailstorms that hit parts of Rukungiri municipality benefited from relief donated by Maj Gen Henry Tumukunde after continuous starvation.
The cells that benefited include Nyamabale, Kabwiire, Kafunda, Omumaaya, Kitimba, Kanyanku, Kaaro in Karangaro ward western division. The received relief food amounts to 3.5 tonnes of maize flour.
Speaking on behalf of Gen. Tumukunde, Twehangane Henry Saturday condoled with the affected residents and urged them to replant to stem future famine. Twehangane said that after hearing the outcry, Gen. Tumukunde was concerned, and decided to support each affected family with 5 Kilograms of maize flour.

Yosia Kasigaire the Nyamabare cell chairperson said that the hailstorm led to serious distraction of their plantations and gardens such as banana plantations, cassava, beans, G. Nuts, among others, living them shocked.
Benard Turyagyenda the Kafunda cell chairperson appealed to the government to support them adding that after the area was hit by hailstorm, leaders asked them to make lists of affected people and despite their compliance, they have not received anything.
A cross section of Beneficiaries hailed Gen. Tumukunde for giving them maize flour, revealing that everyone since their area was hit by the hailstorm, they now struggle to get what to eat, noting that maize flour received will push them for some days.
