KITUGUMU-The Police in Kitgum district has arrested a total of 13 senior civil servants accused of embezzling Parish Development Model-PDM funds amounting to over Ugx500m.
The suspects were rounded on Monday 22/8/2022 by the security during an intelligence led operation.
They include Joel Musisi, the Chief Administrative Officer-CAO, Stephen Lakwonyero Omony, the Deputy CAO, District Agricultural Officer-Denish Ocira, Principal District Commercial Officer Alex Opio, District Planner Christopher Kilama, Sector Accountant Production Department Agnes Aryemo and Office Attendant Juliet Akello.
Others are Barnabas Opio, Paul Nyeko, Alfred Omony, Gaudencio Ogal, Morish Atwom and Dr. Alfred Kinyero, all Kitgum district civil servants.
ASP David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Regional Police Spokesperson, said the arrested suspects are accused of mismanaging over Ugx 526 million.
Mudong also revealed that Samuel Komakech is still on the run but police is doing all it takes to have him arrested.
President Yoweri Museveni recently warned those with unquenchable appetite for public funds to abandon the practice or risk being sent to jail over PDM cash.
