NEWS-President Museveni recently directed that all roadblocks are removed from highways in the country so as to ensure smooth movement of goods and services. Following the president’s directive police have removed all roadblocks along the highways.
Addressing journalists at the police headquarters Monday morning, Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said all roadblocks are now illegal, warning that any police officer found doing otherwise commits a crime therefore faces punishment.
The police spokesperson however asked members of the public that in case they come upon any police officer in breach of the directive, they should alert authorities.
These checkpoints have been used by police and the army as a way of checking intercepting criminals, especially at night.
