KAMPALA-Police have confirmed that six people died instantly today morning after two explosions rocked Uganda’s capital Kampala.
The two explosions were targeting Jubilee building along parliamentary avenue and Buganda road near the Central Police Station CPS.
Addressing journalists in afternoon hours, Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga revealed that so far preliminary investigations indicate that three of the deceased were suicide bombers responsible for the blasts.
Enanga added that the impact of the explosion covered a radius of 30 meters and consequently affected the counter of the Central Police Station building.
He continued explaining that another explosion went off near Jubilee building along Parliamentary Avenue in an incident he noted had been captured by the nearby CCT cameras.
Explaining the two bomb blasts, Enanga said they went off three minutes apart.
He said that a total of 33 people have been rushed to hospital after being injured by the blasts and that five of these are in critical condition.
According to footage from CCTV cameras, the suicide bomber that targeted the Central Police Station CPS Kampala is seen pressing the detonator as he approached two police patrol vehicles parked along the road.
In the footage at parliamentary avenue, two men riding on two separate motorcycles were seen riding before the two explosions went off.
Fred Enanga however said that a joint security team gave a chase to one of the suicide bombers who was later arrested from Bwaise Kampala suburb and a search at his home in Nansana, Katooke, two suicide vest were recovered.
According to the police spokesperson, the latest incident show that there are still so many domestic terror cells ready to cause havoc to the country.
