KAMPALA- The Judicial Service Commission (JSC), a government body mandated with the recruitment and disciplining of errant judicial officers has refuted the allegations of new appointments in the Uganda’s Judicial system.

Referring to various publications concerning the appointment of the Deputy Chief Justice, Justices of the Supreme Court, Justices of the Court of Appeal, Judges of the High Court, and re-appointment of Hon. Lady Justice Bukirwa Faridah Shamilah, Ms. Maria Theresa Nabulya, the Commission’s Ag. Senior Communications Officer refuted the dissemination as fake.

According to her, “the Judicial Service Commission wishes to disassociate itself from these publications. The Commission has established official channels through which all official communications are disseminated to stakeholders. These include the official X account (@JSCUganda), the website (www.jsc.go.ug) and formal correspondence on official letterhead”.

She adds that “any information not communicated through these official platforms should be disregarded as unauthorized. The Commission sincerely regrets any confusion or inconvenience that may have arisen from these publications”.

On Thursday evening, news was all over different social platforms regarding the appointments, however, the joy has been cut short by the commission’s nullification of the said appointment.

The then information had it that “President Museveni has appointed Justice Flavian Zeija as the new Deputy Chief Justice. Until his appointment Thursday evening, Justice Zeija was the Principal Judge. He now replaces Justice Richard Buteera who retires in April this year when he clocks 70 years”.
