RUKUNGIRI- Sacco members have been urged to ensure financial discipline if their institutions are to develop and be model to others.
The call was made on Saturday by Tindigarukayo Justus, the assistant manager business banking at Centenary Bank Rukungiri as he officiated at the 5th annual general meeting Rukungiri Christ the King Sacco, that took place at Christ king church in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.
Tindigarukayo advised members to make it a habit to save regularly, spending wisely and avoiding unnecessary expenses.Â
He also emphasized the importance of building trust within the Sacco, stating that this is only established through accountability, strategic partnerships, and continuous improvement of internal systems.

Atuheire Carolyn the Rukungiri District Commercial officer requested the board to create time for trainings to cover essential skills like governance, financial literacy, data digitalization, and understanding the SACCO business model.

Rev Fr. Dr. Julius Turyatoranwa the Rukungiri Christ the king Sacco patron hailed the board for the development and urged members to buy more shares, emphasizing the importance of honesty and integrity in handling members’ funds.

George Owakukiroru Tumwesigye, the Rukungiri Christ the king Sacco BOD Chairman urged members to mobilize more people to join the Sacco in a move to increase the loan portfolio as well dividends.
Owakukiroru however expressed dismay over dormant accounts noting that they are letting some of their efforts and targets down.
Penelope Ainembabazi the Rukungiri Christ the king Sacco General Manager, advised borrowers to responsibly used borrowed funds urging them to manage their finances wisely to achieve their goals and avoid falling into debt traps.
