BUSHENYI- The Police in Bushenyi are holding 21 people in their custody over flouting COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
According to Martial Tumusiime, the greater Bushenyi region police spokesperson the suspects were arrested from different parts of the district in the Police’s continued efforts to stem the spread of COVID-19.
The operation was also meant to crackdown machete wielding gangs who had threatened to attack Bushenyi residents afew days ago.
Tumusiime stressed that some of the suspects were found drinking in bars, others moving beyond curfew time, while some were found chewing Amairungi in different trading centers.
Tumusiime noted that the suspects will be charged with doing acts that can spread an infectious disease.
He added that the operations will continue in a bid to prevent the spread of the pandemic and curb down criminals.
