RUKUNGIRI-The Minister of state for finance in charge of investments and privatization, Hon. Evelyne Anite on Wednesday 18th August, 2021 approved 203 acres of land from Bwambara Sub County in Rukungiri district to be used for the construction center of an industrial park.
In May 2021, cabinet approved a proposal to establish 25 industrial parks in all sub regions in the country and the paper was presented by former legislator for Koboko municipality Evelyn Anite.
While witnessing the land, the minister of investments and privatization, Hon. Evelyne Anite thanked the district and Bwambara sub county council for approving the land meant for industrial park being a government program.
She added that the people of Rukungiri should welcome the strategy revealing that it’s aiming at taking Rukungiri and the country at large to the middle income status.
Hon. Anite however confirmed that construction process will start within three month by the engineering brigade of Uganda people’s Defence Forces UPDF.
The security minister who is also the area legislator for Rujumbura constituency Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi thanked the people of Rukungiri for responding positively to the government call on land for industrial park requesting the same spirit on any other government program.
Hon. Jim however appreciated president Museveni for considering Rukungiri district to be among the few beneficiaries in the program.
He continued that the government is ready to provide more services to the people asking for support while implementing them.
Speaking at the function, the Rukungiri district woman MP Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata explained that people of Rukungiri will not only benefit from the given industrial park but even infrastructural and social development like roads, electricity water among many others.
Hon. Natukunda further encouraged people of Rukungiri to welcome the initiative regardless of religion, political party or any other.
Additionally, Hon. Anite appointed Mr. Ambrose Kibuka as the park ambassador and the industrial park will facilitate to over 10,000 jobs.
