RUKUNGIRI- Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, the Minister for Security and National Resistance Movement chairman for Rukungiri district has encouraged people to separate religion from politics, warning that sectarianism hampers development.
Jim Muhwezi made the revelation yesterday while speaking to the people of Kyaburere and Nyanganjara in Bugangari Sub County, Rukungiri district.
He is holding community dialogues to inform the people of Rujumbura Constituency about the NRM manifesto’s success throughout his five-year term in office.
In his speech, Bugangari Sub County LC3 chairperson Jaston Byamukama expressed concern about the practice of a section of populace aligned to sectarianism to gain political posts, an act that will hinder Uganda’s progress.

Tackling the same issue, Hon. Jim Muhwezi, the Rujumbura County Member of Parliament urged residents to desist sectarian politics and rather focus on channeling messages that communicate development. Muhwezi said that politicians who promote division cannot effectively lobby for their constituents calling upon people to shun them for effective service delivery.
He also appealed to people to join and support the ruling party because it has the medicine which is able to deal with problems of all Ugandans.
In the same community dialogue, Minister Jim Muhwezi urged youths to embrace wealth creation as the primary solution to unemployment, rather than relying on government jobs which are very limited.

Twinomuhabgi Angello, who is eyeing the top district seat and supporter of Hon. Jim Muhwezi praised the idea of youths embracing wealth creation, stating that this can be accomplished by using government-led services like roads, electricity, and other resources to carry out initiatives that generate revenue.
