Sacco members tipped on how to benefit from their financial institutions

RUKUNGIRI- Sacco members have been tipped to work hard to support their Institutions’ growth and ensure cooperation that will bring development.

The remarks were made yesterday by Gumisiriza Bernard who represented Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi, the Rujumbura County Member of Parliament and Security Minister during the 11th annual general meeting of Bwanda Sacco, at Omurusheshe church of Uganda.

Gumisiriza asked members to keep focused in the forthcoming political season, choose leaders who will foster development rather than those promising heaven on earth and tarnishing the current leadership.

Hon Minister Jim Muhwezi contributed one million shillings towards the development of Bwanda Sacco.

Micheal Byarugaba who represented the district chairperson encouraged Bwanda Sacco members and the entire country to engage in commercial enterprises in a bid to make money and alleviate themselves from poverty rather than relying solely on subsistence mode of life. Byarugaba urged SACCO members who borrow money to always make their payments on time to avoid penalties.

This he said emanates from proper saving and planning for the loan before requesting for the loan.

Katebire Andrewson the former Rukungiri District boss, who’s eyeing the same seat called for good policies that will govern and protect people’s money especially on defaulters.

Katebire requested for commercial officers to always monitor saccos under their jurisdiction to ensure proper operation.

Tinkimurekura Isaiah the SACCO manager said that they were grateful to receive Hon Jim Muhwezi’s contribution of one million shilling and pledged their total support to the NRM party ahead of election season.

The Sacco made 25million profits and the administration promised to sensitize people on fighting dormant accounts and improve on saving culture.
