Police discover abandoned vehicle with suspected dead stolen cow

NEWS– The police in Masaka have discovered an abandoned vehicle with a suspected stolen cow in it.

The abandoned vehicle silver Toyota Ipsum registration number UAN 674A 

 was on 8th  November 2024, at around 6:00pm encountered by police officers from Masaka police while patrolling Villa Maria Road in Kitante-Kilowoza.

According to police, the vehicle had three occupants who fled the scene when approached by the officers and upon inspection the officers discovered a dead black cow in the back seat which is suspected to be stolen.

This incident underscores a troubling trend of perpetrators often hiding stolen animals in vehicle compartments to avoid detection.

The police noted that the vehicles used for these crimes are commonly reported as stolen to police as a means of protection against being seized during police operations.

“With the festive season approaching, we are urging the public to stay alert and vigilant to report suspicious animal transportation”, the part of the police statement read.
