Over 200 Kyambogo students to miss next week’s graduation as High Court okays its continuity

NEWS-A section of the Kyambogo University students are set to miss out on the Universities’ 17th graduation slated to take place next week 21th September 2021.

This followed the missing of their names in the graduation booklet done by the University administration.

The students whose names were missing in the graduation booklet had earlier petitioned the High Court seeking an order to halt the ceremony until the main case in which they challenged the disappearance of their data from the university’s database is disposed of.

However, on Friday 17th September 2021 Dr. Flavian Zeija the principal judge threw out the students’ application stressing that the affidavit to support the application was not made before the commissioner of oaths as required by the law.

It was recently was reported that results and data for over 2000 students had been deleted from the university system Prof. Elly Katunguka, the Kyambogo University Vice Chancellor confirmed that some graduands were among the victims.

Speaking to journalists shortly after court, Kyambogo University spokesperson, Ruben Twinomujuni said the graduation of 9536 students will now go on in peace next week.
