Former Uganda’s first lady laid to rest in Rukungiri

RUKUNGIRI-The former Uganda’s first lady Seforoza Nyamichoncho has on Friday 17th September 2021 been laid to rest at his ancestral home in Rwenkuraijo village, Nyakaina parish, Buyanja Sub-county in Rukungiri district.

Seforoza Nyamuchoncho was a wife to the late Polycarp Nyamuchoncho who was in a company of other two members of the Interim Government of Presidential Commission of Uganda who included Mr. Saulo Musoke and Yoweri Hunter Wacha-Olwol who led Uganda for six months from 22nd May 1980 to 15th December 1980.

Seforoza Nyamichoncho who was born in 1926 died on Saturday 9th September, 2021 in Kampala allegedly of old age.

Betty Muzaanira, the former Rukungiri district Woman legislator commended Seforoza Nyamichoncho and all her family for being a role model to many people and families in the community.

Muzaanira described Seforoza as a hardworking, royal mother not only to her family but also other members of the community.

Beatrice Kenyangi, a daughter to the deceased thanked religious, political and civil leaders, family lawyer, neighbors and all the members of the community for their support towards the sendoff ceremony of their beloved mother both spiritually and economically.

Kenyangi described her late mother as a hardworking, tolerant, well behaved and God fearing woman who loved her children and all their neighbors and the community at large.

Major Pollar Awich, a retired army officer and a Nyamichoncho family lawyer described the late Seforoza as a peaceful woman who served all her duties on earth and also helped others to live a better life.

Awich called for a resolution from parliament on a uniform law or policy that can protect leaders and their family members even when they are still not in power.

Seforoza Nyamuchoncho has survived with two living children of the nine she produced, 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Our reporter discovered that the Government of Uganda had recently purchased a multibillion mansion house for the deceased where she had spent just five last days of her life.
