RUKUNGIRI- The minister of State for Cooperatives Hon. Gume Fredrick Ggobi has commissioned Kigezi Coperative Union House in Rukungiri Municipality built by Kigezi Growers Coperative Union Limited at a tune of Ugx 600M.
Hon.Ggobi encouraged people to always form and operate in groups if they are to benefit more from different government funds meant to alliviate them from poverty.
The Minister added that without cooperation and trusted leaders, the coperatives and other related groups can’t succeed thanking the Kigezi Growers Coperative Union Limited leadership for keeping the spirit.
Ggobi noted that with such kind of assets, the coperative can’t easily collapse thanking it’s leaders for thinking beyond, the ways of permanently building the coperative.
He advised the public to avoid borrowing from money lenders where interests are overwhelmingly high but rather get money from Saccos and Coperatives at lower interest rates.
Meanwhile Minister Ggobi encouraged the youths to as well join different saving groups like elders do if they want to have a better tomorrow.
The Rukungiri District Resident Commissioner Nsubuga Bewayo Stephen promised that the district leadership is commited to serve the residents heartedly with all service delivery and will continue guiding Coperatives and Saccos on how to permanently succeed.
Didus Mugisha the chairperson of Kigezi Growers Coperative Union Limited revealed that as they are expecting an increase in the volume of of coffee trade, the Hon. Minister should lobby for them a modernised coffee huller to compete favorably with other coffee exporters.
Kigezi Growers Coperative Union was registered on 13th November 1961 as an agricultural processing and marketing Union.
