RUKUNGIRI- Parents of school-going children in Rukungiri district have been urged to embrace government-aided schools as a way of ensuring that their children continue learning uninterrupted.

The call was made yesterday Saturday by the deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) Rukungiri district, Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom while representing the Security minister and the Rujumbura County MP. Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi who was the chief guest during the fundraising towards the construction of a three classroom block and library at Rwera Primary school in Nyabukumba cell, Nyarwimuka Parish in Ruhinda Sub County, Rukungiri district.

Addressing the gathering, Ongom said that parents should not burden themselves with taking children to expensive schools, which they cannot afford but rather develop their local ones to benefit their children at lower costs.

According to Ongom, some parents keep their children home as they look for money to pay school fees in expensive schools that charge exorbitant fees and requirements yet they can use little they have to develop their local schools.
