NEWS- Leaders in Kigezi sub-region have been urged to preach the National Resistance Movement message of wealth creation of the people in their areas are to develop financially.
The call was made by the President of the Republic of Uganda HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as he addressed people in Eastern Ward, Nyamirama town council in Kanungu district.
President Museveni who was in company of his wife Janet Kataha Museveni commonly known as Maama Janet were in Nyamirama town council to visit model farmer Kenneth Ayesigwa.
Kenneth Ayesiga, a resident of Kanungu district owns the Parish Model Restaurant, which he started using PDM funds and has since diversified into the piggery business.
“This is another testament to what we are telling our people: it is possible to get out of poverty. I therefore urge the leaders to preach the NRM message of wealth creation”, President Museveni said.
President Museveni is in Kigezi sub-region for the evaluation of Parish Development Model PDM. Kigezi is the 12th sub-region to be evaluated by the President having previously evaluated 11 of them country wide.
Relatedly, the leaders in Kigezi sub-region have endorsed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa for sole candidature in the 2026 coming general elections.
This was on Thursday 13th February 2025 revealed by the Kigezi sub-region leaders led by Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi the NRM Vice chairman for Western Uganda during the President’s Parish Development Model PDM tour in Rukungiri district.
According to Baryomunsi and the leaders, President Museveni has done every good that qualifies him not only to be in the polls of 2026 but also to be a sole candidate.
President Museveni while addressing the Kigezi sub-region leaders called for compliance to the government advice if they are to financially develop themselves and the country at large.
The President is in Kigezi for the evaluation of Parish Development Model PDM in the sub-region.
The Presidential PDM evaluation tour in Kigezi sub-region having commenced on Wednesday 12th February 2025 in Kisoro and Rubanda continued to Kanungu and Rukungiri on Thursday 13th February 2025 and will conclude on Friday 14th February 2025 with Kabale and Rukiga districts.
