Education as a Priority for Children: Insights from Rukungiri Universal Primary School Meeting

Parents were over the weekend urged to prioritize education as the cornerstone of success for their children. This was during a general meeting held at Rukungiri Universal Primary School.

The School Headteacher Tugaineyo Kenneth expressed gratitude for the overwhelming attendance, emphasizing the importance of quality education in shaping a secure future for students.

Kenneth highlighted the need for parents to ensure their children receive quality education and underscored the significance of purchasing school uniforms to facilitate easy identification.

He acknowledged the parents’ efforts in supporting the school through timely payment of fees, which enables the institution to maintain high educational standards.

Furthermore, he encouraged parents to actively promote Rukungiri Universal Primary School to attract more students, noting the presence of qualified teachers.

“Only education can help their children to secure their future,” Kenneth stated. 

Rukungiri Municipality Education Officer Mr. Robert Angumya also addressed the gathering, thanking the school’s directors for their vision in establishing the institution and recognizing the positive impact of Headteacher Kenneth’s leadership.

He reiterated the critical need for an educated populace and cautioned the administration to focus not only on upper classes but also on foundational education in lower classes.

“This generation requires educated people,” Angumya emphasized. He called on teachers and staff to collaborate effectively to enhance student performance.

Rukungiri Universal Primary School Director Bwengye Kumanya Mwebesa expressed his appreciation for the parents’ commitment to the meeting. He noted that the gathering aimed to provide a platform for parents to engage with the administration and seek clarity on school matters.

Mwebesa also recognized the support from the school’s alumni and urged parents to help mobilize for increased enrollment at Rukungiri Universal Primary School.

“We need to work together to ensure our children receive the best education possible,” Mwebesa concluded.

The meeting underscored the collective responsibility of parents, teachers, and the community in fostering an environment conducive to learning and growth for the next generation.
