NEWS– A famous tiktoker has been sent to prison for abusing the person of the president.

Emmanuel Nabugodi was on Monday 18th November 2024 remanded to Kigo government prison for 2 years and 8 months.

Nabugodi was sentenced as she appeared before the Entebbe Chief Magistrate Stella Amabilisi.

This came after Nabugodi pleaded guilty last week to four charges, including hate speech and spreading malicious information about the president on his TikTok account.

A 21-year-old Nabugodi has become the latest Ugandan TikToker to be sent to prison after creating a video that was said to insult President Yoweri Museveni.

In July, Edward Awebwa was handed a six-year sentence on similar charges to Nabugodi regarding a TikTok post. Three others are awaiting trial over content on the social media app.

Stellah Maris Amabilis, the chief magistrate of the court in Entebbe noted that Nabugodi was not remorseful and the sentence would help prevent social media attacks against people including the person of the president.
