60

The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt Rev. Onesmus Asiimwe, has urged Christians to prepare for death early while they are still alive on earth. He made the call during a funeral service at All Saints Church Rukungiri, where the congregation prayed for the body of the late Canon Kosiya Turyagyenda, who died on Saturday last week in Kampala.

Rt Rev. Onesmus said God remains the Creator and the taker of life, and therefore families should remain calm and trust in God’s timing. He praised the late Canon for his vision, persistence, and the ethical way he taught people in the community. The Bishop also commended Canon Kosiya for respecting his rank and serving faithfully within the Anglican faith, saying his life reflected true Christian love.

The Bishop noted that Canon Kosiya’s good deeds—including helping the needy and encouraging others—are evidence of a life prepared for eternal reward. He encouraged those who attended the service to emulate the late Canon by repenting early and living according to God’s commandments, warning that death can come suddenly but salvation requires readiness.

He then urged the family of the late to take comfort in the hope of eternal life, saying Canon Kosiya has been called to live with God in Heaven.
