RUKIGA– The Police in Rukiga district have initiated inquiries under which a 61 year old man was murdered.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson identified the deceased as Mugwanya Kato Ibrahim a resident of Kanyeganyega village, Kashakye parish, Kamwezi sub county in Rukiga district.
The assault incident was reported at Kamwezi Police Post by Karakule Wallen 67, on Sunday morning at around 10am.
It’s alleged that on Monday, the deceased found four of his biological sisters tilling his land that he inherited from the late father and stopped them.
They then picked a quarrel and he was hit with a hoe on the forehead and waist sustaining injuries and was rushed to Nyakihanga church of Uganda health center II where he unfortunately died from on Sunday morning.
Maate said that a team of police led by D/ASP Mbahimba William, the CID Rukiga district visited the scene and examined the body, did the post-mortem and handed over body for burial.
Maate also added that one arrest has already been made as the police hunts for three others.
The case was registered at Rukiga police station under reference number CRB 359/2021.
