Rotary Club of Kololo donates brass band to Rukungiri’s Nyamifura Primary School

The Rotary Club of Kololo has made a significant impact by donating a brass band to Nyamifura Primary School, further enhancing its commitment to supporting education in the region.

The ceremony held on the school grounds in Nyakagyeme sub county, Rukungiri District was attended by local leaders, parents, and students, all eager to witness this uplifting event.

The head teacher Biriho Lovence expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Rotary Club of Kororo for their ongoing support, which has previously included classroom blocks and a computer laboratory.

Biriho however expressed other challenges the school still faces including shortage of teachers relative to the number of pupils and subjects offered, urgent need for water tanks to address the ongoing water scarcity.

The chairperson of boys and girls brigade of Uganda, also a chairman of East African Regional Fellowship Canon Evert Mugarura, emphasized the importance of protecting the newly donated brass band.

Mugarura noted that the band is not just an instrument; it’s a symbol of community’s unity, a tool to praise God. He warned that this band shouldn’t be put to commercial use.

The Chief Guest Maj gen Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, the Minister of Security and Rujumbura County MP was represented by Moses Mabare Turyatemba who hailed the Rotary club of Kololo, old students and other well-wishers for commitment to supporting educational initiatives.

Mabare is optimistic that the brass band will not only enhance school spirit but also foster collaboration and growth within Nyamifura Primary School.
