NEWS– The President of the Republic of Uganda HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa has donated 18 tractors to farmers in Bunyoro subregion.
The 18 tractors were on 16th November 2024 handed over by Robinah Nabbanja, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda on behalf of the President.
According to Nabbanja, this is part of a larger strategy by the NRM government to support rural areas that play an integral role in the agriculture sector by equipping farmers with tools for success.
The Prime Minister revealed that the tractors will be utilised communally under the management of carefully selected model farmers and institutions.
Each district in Bunyoro subregion was allocated two tractors for use.
Nabbanja notes that this is a testament to the commitment of the NRM to support and modernize agriculture to increase production & productivity for improved livelihoods stressing that mechanization of Agriculture reduces the burden of manual labour and enables farmers to cultivate more land with greater efficiency and productivity.
She urged all leaders, farmer associations, and community members to ensure proper usage and maintenance.
