NEWS– The police at Nateete police station is holding one suspect and hunting for others in connection to the suspected armed robbery.
Patrick Onyango the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson identified the detained as Henry Kizito, a 19-year-old boda-boda rider.
It is said that on 12th December 2024, at around 3:00 am, 30 year old a Kafeero Emmanuel, a resident of Masanda zone in Kyengera Town Council was ambushed by two men armed with a panga, knives, and a stick while on Busega road heading to Mityana.
The assailants dragged Kafeero deep into the swamp, tortured him and robbed him of his phone, Ugx 20,000 and 20 packets of yogurt.
Kafeero was held hostage until around 9:00 am when the suspects fled.
Kafeero reported the incident to Busega police station which made follow-up assisted by UPDF officers.
Onyango noted that a case of aggravated robbery has been registered and exhibits recovered include a panga, four new knives, and a metallic rod.
The police spokesperson also revealed that one suspect was injured during the operation and is currently receiving treatment at Mulago Hospital under police guard as inquiries are ongoing.
