Suspected pig thief lynched to death in Kabale

KABALE– The Police in Kabale have launched investigations to ascertain the cause of death of a suspected pig thief whose body was found lifelessly lying in a pool of blood.


Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson said that the information was received from Philip Betomwe, 76 a resident of Kabura cell, Mwendo parish, Kitumba sub county in Kabale district that there was unknown body lying helplessly in pool of blood in the same area.


Its alleged that on 27th September 2021 at around 2:00am, the deceased was heard making alarm to be forgiven by the killers according to the witness statements and in the morning hours, he was found dead with deep cuts on the head and both legs.


It’s further alleged that the deceased was caught  stealing a pig in the neighboring village of Omutaba, took off to Kabura cell where the yet to be identified villagers got him and assaulted him to death.


Maate noted that the notified Police officers led by ASP Byansi proceeded to the scene from where the police dog trucked and led them to a home of one Junior who had taken off.


Maate revealed that photos were taken covering all the  scenes, sketch plan was drawn, some exhibits recovered and statements from relevant witnesses were also recorded to help in investigations and the body was taken to Kabale regional referral hospital mortuary pending for a  postmortem.


According to Elly Maate, the body had been identified to be of one Crispus Nahabwe commonly knowns as Gaddafi as per his national Identity Card which was found on him and he is a resident of Makanga cell, Butobere ward  in Kabale municipality.


Efforts to identify the pig in question are under way and to  have the culprits arrested since no suspect(s) have been identified by press time.
