NEWS– Police officers have been urged to emphasize discipline, integrity if they are to succeed in the assessment tests and also in the incoming Peace keeping mission.
This call was sounded by the Deputy Director Operations, Commissioner Okosh Simon Peter as he officially opened the assessment process of 177 police officers heading for international peacekeeping roles.
A total of 117 officers from the Uganda Police Force who also included 32 women on 7th December 2024 commenced pre-deployment assessment tests in preparation for the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The assessments include reading comprehension, report writing, driving and shooting skills.
During the tests, officers are being evaluated for individual mission service and will also serve as part of specialized police teams (SPTs) for a one-year deployment in a bid contribute to peacekeeping and stabilization efforts in Somalia.
CP Polly Namaye, the Uganda police head of Peace Support Operations expressed confidence in the officers’ abilities and encouraged them to serve as exemplary ambassadors of peace while carrying out their duties in Somalia.
The team is led by ACP Emmanuel Lithakong Ntalaba, from African Union Commission – Peace Support Operation Division aiming at ensuring that the deployment aligns with AU standards.
