NEWS-Doctors through their Umbrella Uganda Medical Association (UMA) have refused to return to their jobs hours after meeting President Yoweri Museveni on ending their industrial action.

According to sources, president Museveni agreed to UMA’s call for immediate salary increments and allowances.

Museveni appealed to them to resume work while negotiations continue to resolve all issues.

However, primarily sources confirmed that UMA would not call off the strike until the government honors its part of the agreement.

Over the weekend, doctors announced their strike citing the failure by the government to improve their working conditions and to increase their salaries.

The move has left thousands of patients across the country stranded at health facilities as they cannot access full medical care.
