RUKUNGIRI- Sr Mary Gladys Kachope Amooti the outgoing on Sunday officially handed over office to Sr. Sabina as the new headteacher of Immaculate Heart Girls School.
The ceremony happened yesterday Sunday at school grounds Nyakibale and that was attended by various dignitaries within the district and across the region.
Sr. Kachope said that having good leadership of the school administration and intelligent staff with mind made her yield good performance in both UCE and UACE which made her win to attract many students within Rukungiri and at national level.
She reflected alot of achievements from 2006 that made the school to stand still such projects were increasing the school enrollment, academic excellence, discipline, infrastructure, the golden jubilee building and other buildings, building good relationships between teachers, buying many pieces of land for the school, social responsibility giving back to the community, among others.
Atuhaire Juliet Muzoora the commissioner of the secondary education in the ministry of education and sports during her speech, she commended Sr. Kachope for being a committed school leader who made Immaculate heart a model school not only in Uganda but also globally.
The vicar General Monsignor John Vianny Sunday for Kabale Diocese called upon authorities at different schools to focus on ensuring that students learn well in addition to working hard to alter physical appearances of these schools.
He said that Kabale diocese hails Sr. Kachope for being a model leader, who has run Immaculate heart girls’ school very with no disparities but with love and ensuring students excel both academically and spiritually.
Sr. Sabina praised Kachope’s leadership that has made history by serving and leaving office when she’s still capable of leading
She hailed her for being strong, sharp and having leadership skills, grateful for the experience and knowledge she has rendered to school community.
Sr. Sabina Tumusiime hailed Sr. Kachope for working hard to put the school at a higher level due to her outstanding leadership, noting that she has been a visionary leader who has managed to make a lot of achievements that have made the school excelsior as their motto says.
Sr. Kachope in 2019 was recognized as the best head teacher at continental level, and in 2018, was awarded a medal for being the best teacher at National level. And as token of appreciation the school together with Board gave her Toyota car to ease work for her next destination.
The function also consisted of awarding gifts to best performers in both UCE and UACE 2024 where the school became the 11 in UCE at National level.
Isaac Kaharuza the political assistant represented Minister for Security with contribution of 5million shillings, Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahirwa Rukungiri Municipality, Lions clubs Rukungiri, Rukungiri District leadership, Rukungiri Education Department, Headteachers from different schools were among who blessed the function.
