Rukungiri Municipal Council Supports P7 Candidates with Examination Handover

In a significant initiative to bolster educational outcomes, the Eastern Division of Rukungiri Municipal Council officially handed over a set of examinations to Primary Seven (P7) candidates in preparation for the upcoming Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). The handover ceremony took place today at the Division Headquarters, attended by key officials and headteachers from various primary schools.

The event was led by Mr. Tumwesigye David, the Eastern Division Chairperson, and Ms. Kobutungyi Eva, the Town Clerk. They emphasized the importance of these examination materials for both Universal Primary Education (UPE) and private schools within the division. Participating schools included Kyatoko Primary School, Star Parents Primary School, Nyakibare Upper Boarding Primary School, and Nyakibare Parents Primary School, among others.

The examinations are scheduled to take place over two days, starting tomorrow, October 16th, and concluding on October 17th. Marking will be conducted at the individual schools, allowing for immediate feedback and support for the students.

Mr. Tumwesigye expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the headteachers for their unwavering dedication, particularly in light of the ongoing industrial action by Government Primary School Teachers stating that their commitment during this challenging period sets a commendable example for other schools in Rukungiri Municipality and beyond. He also highlighted the impressive academic record of schools under the Municipal Council, noting that Rukungiri Municipality ranked fourth nationally for the 2024–2025 academic year. He expressed confidence that similar or even better performance could be achieved this year besides this struggles 

Mr. Musiimenta John, headteacher of Nyakibare Parents Primary School, acknowledged the Eastern Division’s consistent support in providing Pre-PLE examinations, stating that it significantly contributes to the preparation and success of P7 candidates remarking that these exams are crucial for our pupils’ success.

Similarly, Arinaitwe Vincent, Deputy Headteacher of Nyakibare Upper Boarding Primary School, expressed his appreciation, stressing that without these exams, students would struggle to achieve the results they currently attain.

Kobutungyi Evas, Senior Assistant Town Clerk, also highlighted the importance of the Council’s role in organizing the exams. She urged headteachers to monitor and supervise the examinations closely to ensure integrity and maximize their positive impact on students.

As Rukungiri prepares for the PLE, this initiative reflects a strong commitment to educational excellence and student success in the region. The collaboration between the Council and local schools aims to create a supportive environment for learning, ultimately benefiting the future of the students involved.
