In a call for peace and unity, Bishop Onesmus Byengoma Ngoboka urged the public to refrain from engaging in violent political activities ahead of the upcoming 2026 general elections. The remarks were made during a gathering of the National Fellowship of Born Again Pentecostal Churches at God’s Embassy Church in Bunura cell, Rukungiri Municipality, yesterday.

Bishop Ngoboka emphasized the importance of respecting individuals’ rights to vote for leaders of their choice, while also cautioning against divisive politics that can lead to violence. “We must not allow politics to separate us; our lives and the welfare of our country depend on our ability to coexist peacefully,” he stated.

The Bishop also called on religious leaders to disseminate messages encouraging the public to avoid risky situations that often lead to chaos and loss of life. He urged pastors to promote unity and actively combat corruption to nurture a generation of quality leaders.

In support of this message, Pastor Kwesiga Calleb of Kabatwa Beloved Church in Rugyeyo sub-county shared insights on the importance of spiritual guidance in fostering peace and unity within the community.

“We have learned how to spread positive messages that can bring about harmony among the people,” Pastor Calleb noted.

As the elections approach, both religious leaders stress the critical role of community engagement in maintaining peace and ensuring a safe electoral process.
