NEWS– The property belonging to the detained Rt. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye has successfully been secured from a hotel he was abducted days ago.
According to Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago who is also the People’s Front for Freedom interim President, Besigye’s property was secured from Waridi Paradise Hotel in Nairobi where he had been domiciled as a guest for Hon. Martha Karua on her autobiography launch.
He noted that “following his kidnap shortly after check in on 16th November and whisked back by Ugandan forces, Kenyan security operatives from NIS and DCI had been pushing the hotel management to allow them access Dr. Besigye’s room”.
However, he said that the management of the hotel insisted on production of a court order which the security operatives secured yesterday morning and proceeded to ransack the room, flipping each and everything upside-down and unfortunately, they did not leave behind the requisite search certificate.
“After a lengthy meeting with our legal tean and the hotel management with their lawyers, a decision was made to release the property, including his passport, after executing an inventory and paying the accumulated hotel bills of KShs 85,000”, Lukwago added.
