NTUNGAMO- It’s a sad Sunday evening for Ntungamo District local government basically the health department following the death of their District Health Officer Dr Bakamuturaki Richard the District Health Officer.
Information obtained by this reporter indicates that Bakamuturaki succumbed to brain haemorrhage after sliding and falling in Sauna at Ankole Resort Hotel Ntungamo on Sunday evening 3rd October 2021.
The incident according to reports happened at around 5pm after which he was pronounced Dead upon reaching at amazing Grace clinic where he was rushed for treatment.
Ntungamo District Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Kiiza Federis confirmed the incident adding that the body had been transported to Mbarara regional referral hospital for postmortem.
Kiiza described Bakamuturaki as one of the pillars in the health sector who always faught for fellow health worker’s rights.
Asiimwe Moses one of the staff in charge of labaratory at Ntungamo District Health department said they are still in shock for the sudden death of their boss.
Former Chairman Ntungamo District, Singahakye Denis described Dr Bakamuturaki as a person of integrity, transparent and accountable.
He has been DHO Ntungamo District since 2021 after serving Rakai District in the same capacity.
Born from Kagarama Town council, Ntungamo District in Kajara County, Bakamuturaki died at the age of 48.
