KAMPALA- The minister for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Judith Nabakooba, has asked members of parliament to take it upon themselves and pass the valuation bill 2024, which is currently under scrutiny by the parliamentary physical infrastructure committee.
Nabakooza Defended the bill while appearing before the physical infrastructure committee presided over by Tonny Awany, saying that the government has faced challenges in the valuation profession and if it is passed by parliament will address issues like unethical practice of valuars.
She told the committee members that the government is facing a problem of implementing government infrastructure projects across the country.
She said that this bill focuses on finding solutions to current escalating court awards, high litigation costs, and loss of government revenue.
The western Youth member of parliament Edson Rugumayo was concerned with the ministry of Lands delay also to push for amendments of other land laws and the Surveyors Act which are out dated and frustrate issues in land transactions.
