Minister Jim Muhwezi injects 21 Million to rehabilitate local road

It was a moment of joy and relief yesterday as the office of Rujumbura County Member of Parliament Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi launched the long awaited rehabilitation of Nyakinengo-Kishanda-Omukembeho road.

The 9.2 Km road project connecting Kigaaga and Nyakinengo parishes all in Nyakagyeme Sub County Rukungiri district will be rehabilitated at a tune of shs.21M facilitated by Hon. Jim Muhwezi, the Minister for Security and Rujumbura County Member of Parliament.

Speaking during the launch at Kishanda trading centre, the delegation from Hon. Jim Muhwezi’s office led by his political Assistant Isaac Kaharuza said that rehabilitation of the road was long overdue because for some time, it had been one of the recurring demands from the locals, despite being supposed to be rehabilitated by Nyakagyeme Sub County.

Kaharuza clarified that Hon. Jim Muhwezi acted swiftly to save them when local leaders informed him that their road was in bad condition and that he was the one who had opened it for them.

Isaac Kaharuza called upon community members to accept the project and maximize investments in agriculture so that the road is put into good use for transporting agricultural products to markets. He also urged residents of Nyakinengo to elect leaders like Hon. Jim Muhwezi who is able to solve their issues in terms of service delivery.

Mubangizi Godson, the chairperson LC3 Nyakagyeme Sub County commended Hon. Jim Muhwezi for the great contribution encouraging the residents to take advantage of the development and grow more food crops to generate income for their development needs.

Speaking with our reporter, Binoburamu Banada, Gloria Ayesiga and Nalongo Shillah some of the area residents expressed their gratitude to Minister Jim Muhwezi for thinking about them as they faced it hard to access market, health centers, church, and schools among others over poor state of road, pledging their support when time for elections since their issue has been rectified.
