The Minister for Security, Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, made a heartfelt appeal to the youth to steer clear of divisive ideologies such as sectarianism, religion, and tribalism.

His remarks came during the burial of the late Sanyu Dinavence Byabagambi, a former councilor for Nyakitabire Parish and a dedicated supporter of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

As the chief mourner, Hon. Muhwezi emphasized the importance of discipline among the youth, urging them to protect themselves from the pitfalls often associated with their age.

“It is crucial for our young people to focus on building a better future rather than succumbing to destructive ideologies,” he stated.

The Minister also encouraged the youth to engage in wealth creation initiatives, highlighting that such efforts would contribute positively to the country’s development.

On behalf of the NRM and himself, Hon. Muhwezi extended condolences to Sanyu Dinavence’s family, expressing sorrow over the significant loss felt in Ruhinda Sub County and Rukungiri district. He noted that the grief surrounding Dinavence’s passing demonstrated her profound impact on the community.

Muhwezi remarked on the late Dinavence’s contributions, stating that the nation has lost a remarkable leader who used her influence to promote peace, unity, and progress. He challenged the mourners to follow her example of service and dedication.

During the service, Mr. Ben Byabagambi, the deceased’s husband, expressed deep gratitude to the community for their overwhelming support during this challenging time. He specifically thanked Hon. Muhwezi for the financial assistance provided to the family during his wife’s illness and burial.

Sanyu Dinavence passed away at the age of 62 after a battle with cancer, leaving behind seven children. Her legacy of care and commitment to her family and the community will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
