NEWS- Residents of Kamonyi cell in Kisoro municipality were letters in shock as a a Rwandan national was choked to death by meat.
The deceased has been identified as Elias Ntirivamunda aka Kanovera in his 40s,a Rwandan national from Rugarama, Burera and a resident of Kamonyi cell in Kisoro Municipality.
It is said that Ntirivamunda died in a bar of one Beatrice as he was taking meat.
Delephina Nzasabimana, the deceased’s daughter said the meat was bought from Hamis Bakunda.
Delephina revealed that he had come to see his father and get school fees.
She further revealed that his father welcomed her and took her to the hotel owned by Bakunda but fo her she opted for other foodstuffs leaving the meat to the father (deceased).
According to the residents, Late Elias was a casual drinker which earned himself a name “Kanovera”.
Hamis Bakunda, the hotel owner said he served them food in the bar of one Beatrice.
Hamis added that as the situation for Elias worsened in the bar, he was called for help and immediately attended to the call assuming that the meat got stuck in the oesophagus leaving him unconscious
