RUKUNGIRI– Ugandans have been cautioned against negativity using a conducive environment brought by the ruling National Resistance Movement government but rather use it in making developments to change societies.

The advice was sounded by the Security Minister who doubles as the Rujumbura County Member of Parliament Hon. Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi during the launching of “Nyarushanje NRM Development Association” in Rubabo county, Rukungiri district.
Minister Muhwezi narrated that some individuals seriously using the conducive atmosphere brought in by the NRM government to drink alcohol, instead of working for the development, the habit he said must stop to avoid crimes in societies.

The Minister encouraged the public to always work and cooperate through groups and associations to benefit from government programs and other organizations.
He appreciated the work done by the Nyarushanje NRM Development Association saying that they are simplifying the ideologies of NRM government.
Minister Muhwezi encouraged people to welcome and implement the new government program of Parish Development Model which is aimed at helping people who only work for subsistence to participate in commercial enterprises such that they can increase their household income. Muhwezi then contributed two million shillings to the association towards its development.

Hon. Natukunda Midius Kaharata the Rukungiri district woman legislator used the same function to urge women to always participate in such associations adding that it’s high time for them to have side income and develop themselves.
Natukunda said the association has been launched during the time when government is initiating a new program of parish development model thus urging women to use the chance and benefit from it since they have their portion.
During the function, Hon. Mathius Rwabugumi the Nyarushanje sub county district councilor appreciated the good work done by the NRM government especially in service delivery stressing that forexample their are in previous years had water scarcity challenges but the government has fully solved it.
Rwabugumi asked the association members to identify good projects that will help everyone get out of poverty and increase their household incomes.
Bernard Kamugisha (Mwine Maate) explained to our reporter that the association was formed to create, develop unity and development amongst NRM party members in addition to mobilizing more people to join them in Nyarushanje sub county.

Jolly Mashaija chairperson Rukungiri District women council hailed the NRM for considering women especially in leadership and financial support urging fellow women to join the party for development as long as they are organized in groups.
“Nyarushanje NRM Development Association” started in 2019 and it currently has over 1200 members from nine parishes within the Sub County.
