Leaders in Mbarara city have expressed concern over the continued increase in HIV infections in the area.
This follows recent statistics from the Uganda AIDS Commission that placed Mbarara district in second position after Fort Portal City in terms of HIV/AIDS prevalence country wide , a revelation that has shocked leaders.
The same report indicated that the district has for the last 3 years registered 1789 new HIV infections, resulting in the district having the second highest HIV/AIDS prevalence rate in the country.
Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi ,the mayor Mbarara city said that Mbarara city , is one of the new cities that is aiming at reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS intervention through different local government approaches including Sensitization, Testing and Treat Policy among others.
